Terms of service
Last updated: 10 July 2026
These terms are a contract between you and Chemistry Toolkit Ltd (“Chemistry Toolkit”, “we”) covering your use of chemistrytoolkit.com, the resource library and Toolkit AI (together, “the service”). By creating an account you agree to them. The short version: pay for the plan you choose, use the resources with the students you teach, and don’t redistribute them.
1. Your account
Accounts are for education professionals - teachers, tutors, technicians and school staff. Keep your login details private: an individual account is licensed to one person and must not be used as a shared departmental login (that’s what the School plan is for). You’re responsible for activity on your account, and you must give us accurate information when you sign up.
2. The free trial
New members get a 3-day free trial including 2 sample downloads. You won’t be charged during the trial, and you can cancel at any point before it ends and pay nothing. If you don’t cancel, your chosen plan starts automatically when the trial ends. One trial per person - trials created to obtain additional free downloads may be closed.
3. Plans, billing and VAT
- Monthly (£9/month + VAT) - billed by card each month until cancelled.
- Annual (£79/year + VAT) - billed by card each year until cancelled.
- School (£299/year + VAT) - up to 15 teacher accounts, billed yearly by card or by invoice against a purchase order with 30-day payment terms.
All prices exclude VAT. Where VAT applies it is added at the prevailing UK rate (currently 20%) and itemised; schools receive a VAT invoice showing the subtotal, the VAT and the total. If we change prices, the new price applies from your next renewal and we’ll email you before it takes effect.
4. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel from your account page at any time - no notice period, no cancellation fee. Monthly plans keep access until the end of the paid month. Annual and School plans keep access until the end of the paid year; turning off auto-renewal stops any further charges.
If you’re a consumer, you have a statutory 14-day cancellation right when you first subscribe. Because membership gives immediate access to digital content, downloading resources within those 14 days counts as consent to early supply; if you cancel within the period we’ll refund your payment less a proportionate amount for the period you had access. Beyond statutory rights, payments are non-refundable - but if something has gone wrong, email us and we’ll be reasonable.
5. Your licence to use the resources
While your subscription is active, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download, print, adapt and use library resources for teaching your own students - in lessons, as homework, in internal assessments, and on your school’s private VLE. Resources you downloaded and embedded in your teaching while subscribed may continue to be used with your own students after your subscription ends.
You may not:
- share resources (original or adapted) with anyone who isn’t your student - including colleagues without their own account;
- upload resources to public websites, shared drives open beyond your school, or resource-sharing platforms;
- sell resources or include them in paid materials; or
- remove attribution or licensing notices.
On a School plan, each of the up-to-15 named teachers holds this licence individually, and resources may be shared freely within the subscribing department.
You confirm your acceptance of this licence when you create your account, and we record when you did. To help everyone honour it, every PDF you download is personalised: a discreet footer on each page shows your name, your email address and a unique download reference, so a copy that turns up somewhere it shouldn’t be can be traced to the account it was licensed to. Please leave the footer in place - removing it breaches this licence.
6. Intellectual property
The resources, the site and Toolkit AI are owned by Chemistry Toolkit or its licensors and protected by copyright. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to you. Adaptations you make of our resources remain subject to your licence above.
7. Toolkit AI
Toolkit AI assembles lesson plans from resources in the library. It is a planning aid, not a qualified colleague: you are responsible for reviewing anything it produces before classroom use, including checking resources against your exam board’s specification. Don’t enter personal data about pupils or colleagues into Toolkit AI.
8. Acceptable use
Don’t attempt to scrape or bulk-download the library, probe or disrupt the service, share accounts, or use the service for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms; where practical we’ll warn you first.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available at all times but don’t guarantee uninterrupted access - maintenance and the occasional fault happen. The library changes weekly, almost always by addition; if we ever retire a resource, your right to keep using copies you’ve already downloaded is unaffected.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at the amount you paid us in that period, and we aren’t liable for indirect losses. Resources are teaching materials provided in good faith: while everything is written and checked by chemistry teachers, you remain responsible for how they are used with your classes, including health-and-safety decisions around practical work.
11. Ending or changing these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material we’ll email account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect; if you don’t accept it, you can cancel and we’ll refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction - though if you’re a consumer elsewhere in the UK you keep the benefit of your local law and courts.
