Cookie policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026

This page explains what cookies Chemistry Toolkit uses, why we use them, and how you can control non-essential cookies. We align with Google Consent Mode v2 so analytics and advertising tags stay off until you opt in.

Essential cookies

These are required for the site to work. You cannot turn them off from our banner because the service would stop functioning.

  • Session and authentication — keep you signed in to the members area.
  • Student referral (ct_student_ref) — remembers a tutor or school invitation link you followed so a student discount can be applied at checkout.
  • Discount code (ct_promo) — remembers an admin share link (/go/…) so a promotion code is applied automatically at checkout.
  • Cookie consent (ct_cookie_consent) — stores your choice from the banner below.

Analytics and advertising cookies

If you choose Accept all, we may load Google Tag Manager (when configured) and any tags it manages — for example Google Analytics — to understand how visitors use the marketing site. These cookies are not set if you choose Only necessary.

Changing your mind

Clear the ct_cookie_consent cookie in your browser, or use a private window, and the banner will appear again. You can also block cookies in your browser settings — essential features may then not work as intended.

For how we use personal data more broadly, see our privacy policy.
